Aluminum silicon alloy is an alloy system formed by adding different proportions of silicon (Si) to aluminum (Al) as the matrix. According to the different silicon contents, aluminum silicon alloys are usually divided into three categories: low silicon type (Si<5%), medium silicon type (Si about 5-12%), and high silicon type (Si>12%).
Low silicon aluminum silicon alloys have good plasticity, ductility, and mechanical processing properties, while maintaining the lightweight characteristics of aluminum. The low silicon content gives it high toughness and good weldability.
Silicon aluminum silicon alloy combines excellent casting performance and good mechanical properties, making it the most widely used type of aluminum silicon alloy. The addition of silicon significantly improves fluidity and thermal cracking resistance, making it highly stable when casting complex structural components.
High silicon aluminum silicon alloys have extremely high wear resistance, low thermal expansion coefficient, and excellent dimensional stability. Although it has low ductility, it has high hardness and strong wear resistance, making it suitable for harsh working conditions or precision mechanical components.
